This is one-way island..
I've recently completed a study of whether it would be possible to deliver a motor-vehicle one-way system throughout the whole island.
The red routes are directly outward from the centre of the East Coast, the blue, cyan and green all provide circular loops spreading outward from the red. The dark green lines are the most efficient routes back to the East Coast.
Of course, by a variety of routes one can traverse Southwest to Northeast and vice-versa.
The orange route would be two way (but not necessarily), and I have not shown the two-way 'dead-ends' that must remain to serve more isolated locations.
It's tempting to ask 'why?' Well, in my view, if all roads were motor-vehicle one way, and all junctions filters, it would reduce infrastructure costs (traffic lights, signs, upgrades, maintenance), reduce roadworks impact, reduce accidents, reduce insurance claims, reduce travel times, improve pedestrian and cycle safety and best of all would be an amazing international selling point! Sark is famous for having no cars, Milton-Keynes is famous for roundabouts, the US is famous for grid-plan - Guernsey can be famous for being one-way. 🤩🤩🤩
