Last week saw the number of planning applications registered by the Development & Planning Authority in 2024 move in to four figures!
We’re in week 25, which makes the maths easy - that’s an average of over forty applications for development of some sort submitted each week since the beginning of the year.
In terms of the population, it works out at around 1 in every 65 people (people, not households) intending to carry out some form of work. In terms of households, it’s around 1 in 29.
I’ll let that sink in.
Why are house prices up? Why are builders so busy? Why are construction prices high?
One word - demand.
Congratulations to the States of Guernsey Planning Officers for handling such a high volume workload.
